Frequently Asked Questions

Learn How it Works!

What is Greener Hill?
We are a hybrid in-person/telemedicine service that offers long-term management for your mental health care needs. We are proudly based in Greenville, North Carolina. Our goal is to provide comprehensive, affordable mental health care to North Carolinians otherwise unable to access it. We strive to keep costs low and outcomes great – and we are very good at it. We only treat patients who are age 14 or older currently. We do not manage non-mental health related health concerns currently.
How much does Greener Hill Cost?

If Greener Health is part of your insurance network, there is no recurrent monthly fee. If you have a copay, you are responsible for paying this at the time of your visit when services are rendered, which will be charged to the card on file. For medication, you can use your insurance at the pharmacy just like any other prescription. Show your insurance card to the pharmacy and they will take care of the rest.

Our comprehensive monthly subscription plan is available at an affordable $90 per month for those who prefer cash-pay or are out-of-network insurance, excluding medication expenses. We pride ourselves on being the most affordable subscription-based mental health care model in North Carolina. If we are in-network with your insurance company, you are only responsible for the cost of your co-pay, which will be collected at the time of your visit.

We go the extra mile to connect you with cost-effective pharmacies in your vicinity, ensuring your prescriptions fit within your budget. Typically, a 30-day supply of our prescribed generic medication ranges from $10 to $15 per month, even without insurance, when considering pharmacy options. Feel free to inquire about medication prices before we prescribe them for you.

If Greener Hill is categorized as out-of-network for your health insurance, there’s still a potential avenue for reimbursement for the services you receive. We are committed to aiding you in the preparation of your out-of-network claim.

Our dedicated team will compile a superbill, providing a detailed breakdown of the services you have undergone. This superbill can be submitted directly to your insurance company to initiate the process of seeking reimbursement for out-of-network services.

What is the late-cancellation policy/no-show policy?

Late-cancellation is considered cancelling an appointment less than 24 hours prior to your visit. Being able to serve North Carolinians is our top priority and appointment slots are vital to fulfilling that mission. If we are considered in-network with your insurance, you will be charged $50 for each missed appointment, which will be billed to the card on file. At this time, our cash-pay patients will not be charged a no-show visit until they accumulate over 3 late-cancellations/no-show visits in a year timeframe.

What conditions do you treat?

We treat a multitude of mental health conditions, including, but not limited to:

  • ADHD
  • Alcohol dependence (mild to moderate only)
  • Anxiety
  • Bipolar II disorder
  • Depression
  • Insomnia
  • Menopausal depression
  • Personality disorders
  • Postpartum depression
  • PTSD

We may refer you to a high level of care based on a multitude of clinical factors.

Do we provide letters of care, university accommodations, FMLA, or ESA documentation?
All documentation requests are at the discretion of the provider. Specifically, for FMLA, we typically require a minimum provider/patient relationship of 6 months prior to completing this. Most paperwork requests are billed with a $50 processing surcharge, which will be collected upon completion of the paperwork via the card on file. Sometimes the fee is more, depending on the type of paperwork you need, or the time commitment required to complete it – ask your provider for more details. We are incredibly fast when it comes to completing this paperwork and strive to get everything back to you within 5 business days. If there is a delay, feel free to reach out to your provider via the portal for further inquiry. We do not conduct DOT physicals.
What is a controlled substance, and do we prescribe them?

Controlled substances are generally a drug or chemical whose manufacture, possession and use is regulated by a government, such as illicitly used drugs or prescription medications that are designated by law.

Yes, we can prescribe controlled substances, should it be clinically indicated and determined appropriate by a provider. We typically do not manage long-term benzodiazepine prescriptions, e.g., “I am here to have my Xanax refilled”. Our philosophy is benzodiazepines are useful short-term solutions, in most cases, but are prone to abuse, misuse, and dependency. Should we prescribe these, it is only on a short-term basis, usually less than 3 months. Should you already be on a benzodiazepine (alprazolam, clonazepam, lorazepam, chlordiazepoxide, etc.), we will work with you to find a reasonable alternative to begin to slowly titrate you off these. If this is not something you are interested in doing, it is likely we are not a good clinical fit to serve your needs. Additionally, we are not a detoxification facility – if you are abusing prescription or illicit drugs, we will recommend seeking care for this prior to utilizing our services.

Regarding medications for ADHD, we can prescribe stimulants and non-stimulant medications to treat this condition, depending on clinical evidence and provider discretion.

Reminder, you will need to be seen IN-PERSON prior to being considered for any controlled-substance as a part of your treatment plan. Being seen in person is not a guarantee we will prescribe any specific medication to you – this simply makes it an option to do so if deemed clinically necessary and appropriate.

Medication was sent to the local pharmacy for me, but I need a Prior Authorization (PA) or I am having a problem picking up the prescription. What should I do?

Simply send a message to your provider via the portal. Insurance companies sometimes verify medication you are prescribed is clinically necessary, as medication costs can be expensive. Usually, the pharmacy will reach out to your provider directly to let them know you need a PA filled out. Please allow 72 hours for this process to be completed. If your PA is denied, let us know and we will work with you to determine a reasonable solution.

Is there a commitment or contract?
No, Greener Hill prides itself on maintaining a month-to-month subscription model for our cash pay and out-of-network insurance clients and it can be cancelled anytime. We recommend discussing with your provider prior to discontinuing services, as we want to ensure a smooth transition to whomever you choose to continue your care.

What should I do if I feel I am having a crisis?
CALL 911 OR utilize the suicide prevention hotline by dialing 988 from any telephone. These resources are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If we have cause to believe you may hurt yourself or others, we reserve the right to contact your emergency contact or call 911.
How do I cancel services?

Cancellation for our cash pay/out-of-network subscription plan is easy! Simply send an email to support@getgreenerhill.com and we will process your request within 48 hours. As always, we advise speaking with your provider PRIOR to cancelling services, as we want to ensure a smooth transition to whomever is going to be assuming your care.

How do I use HSA/FSA to cover my subscription costs?

This is easily done. Simply connect your HSA/FSA card to your account and we will utilize that for any accrued charges.

If you need a receipt for reimbursement, we can provide this for you. Simply message your provider via the portal or ask during your next appointment and they will take care of it for you.

Do I need an active prescription or a previous mental health diagnosis to utilize Greener Hill?

No, we always conduct our own assessment of your clinical concerns and will work with you to determine the best course of action for your needs.
